The goal of the Georgia Christian Films Association is to be an effective
part of a growing movement of independent filmmakers who are working to
replace Hollywood as the primary source of movie entertainment for millions
of Christians around the world. This may not be as difficult as one may
believe; here is why.
Hollywood is infested with Godless people who have no sense of moral direction
or spiritual guidance. The result of several decades of building an organization
made up almost entirely with these kinds of people is that the industry
has no moral capital, no spiritual capital, and no intellectual capital.
The movies that come out of Hollywood are simply lousy movies, in every
respect. Nevertheless, Hollywood continues to produce them, at the rate
of 2,000 movies per year. Americans love movies; if all that's available
to them is junk, they'll go see junk.
However, as independent Christian filmmakers begin producing good films,
films with high moral standards, films with good storylines, and most
importantly, films that honor Christ, people will go see THESE films instead
of the junk. Movies like "The Passion of the Christ," and "Time
Changer" have proven that. If Christian filmmakers can produce 500
films a year, we can effectively take the market away from Hollywood.
How can this be done? By building an organization of 2,000 independent
Christian producers who can each release a film every four years.
One of our chief goals is for Georgia to deliver 200 of those independent
Christian producers. Towards that end, GCFA hosts the Georgia Christian
Film Festival each summer. This is an event where local Christian filmmakers
can publicly show their films, and where Christians interested in all
aspects of Christian filmmaking can meet and work together.
Another important goal is for GCFA to develop ties with independent sources
of movie distribution, so that Georgia’s independent Christian filmmakers
will have a means of delivering their films to the public.
We believe the Georgia Christian Films Association will become a society
of families who devote their time, energy, and resources to redeeming
our entertainment culture, by making films that honor Christ.
